Dragon Age

Anyone else looking forward to this game? it was first announced in 2004, but nothing much is known about it other than the fact that it'll be an epic story driven single player RPG with Bioware's own ruleset(not dnd).
Mass Effect didn't do it for me....I'm really looking for a Baldurs Gate type game again, and hope this is it.
We'll know more on 9th July as the website says.

It's Bioware, so probably will be good. Like Jade Empire or NwN 1.
I'm not looking forward to it like to Diablo 3 or Crysis Warhead or even Gears of War 2, but I will try it out as soon as it's out.

If the word "Bioware" is on the box, I'm always excited.

Is it just me or does anyone else think NWN 2 is a very bad game?

The original campaign wasn't "the best", and some of the faces weren't entirely desirable. But the expansion, MotB, was amazing.

NWN 2 isn't by bioware btw. It was made by Obsidian after Bioware "rented" the franchise to them.

Obsidian seem to have a tradition of screwing up good Bioware titles *cough KotOR II cough*
Game certainly looks interesting, i'll have to keep my eye on it

Jade Empire? I would hardly hold that game highly within Bioware's vault of games. That's probably one of if not the worst game they've ever made, not saying its a bad game- just that its a good game, not a great game.

Praising Bioware and yet not mentioning Baldur's Gate makes me feel old
I typically don't like RPGs that are "dumbed down" for consoles, so both Jade Empire and Mass Effect seem pretty okay to me. Dragon Age will be a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and NWN(in their own words), let's see what tomorrow brings!

I stopped playing it at the end of the first chapter. When the only true mage dies in the prologue, you know the game is going down the drain... particularly when she had the best potential as a possible love interest.

Wow, respect. I stopped after like an hour into first chapter. I mean, I bought the game in pre-order, but it was fugly, choppy and slow. Then I got my PC upgraded, reinstalled and I hoped that at Medium settings game would look good. I was wrong, terribly, terribly wrong. Interface is still a crapshit, graphics look like in Barbie Online Adventures and the only good things are the music and spell effects. But the sparkle of magic from NwN is gone.
I mean, when I installed NwN at first, my PC was too weak (minimum requirements 400 MHz, I had 333) and it was hanging up every 30 minutes. Upgraded and lost ~4000 hours in 5 years. Not a single one afked/wasted on nothing. And when NwN 2 turned out to be a failure in my eyes, I couldn't do anything...
Surprisingly, there are more servers for NwN than NwN 2. For example, in NwN 2 there are NO arenas... Persistent worlds are kinda crappy and boring... THAT'S NOT A SEQUEL WORTHY OF NEVERWINTER NIGHTS!!

Sand > all, imo
But it's what happens later on in the game that really starts to grip you. I can't go more in-depth without spoiling the hell out of it, but it was a very emotionally-tearing moment in the game. Obsidian got more of my respect back after that, and even more of it with Mask of the Betrayer.
Btw, it's July 9th. Where's me DA!?

The update/announcement is still scheduled for today, going by their forums. It's just taking some time to finish the stuff. So hopefully it'll be up any hour now.
EDIT : It's uh, up now. A bit of a disappointment I guess - I expected more.
EDIT 2: As much a fan of Bioware as I am, they need to learn from Blizzard about using hype properly.
